Ecco Resource List - from an EverEcco perspective
Purpose
This page is setup to congeal information specifically for the purpose of making the EverEcco template more complete.
Introduction
If you have looked, you know there is a plethora of Ecco info, utilities and additions on the Internet. Everything you need
and everything I know is from these websites. Problem has been “TMI” - too much information. Pretty much every site
has a free copy of Ecco and EE (Ecco Extension) for download. Some sites charge for add-ons and extenders. (To-Do -->
what is the difference anyway? I don’t know. Nail down.) One extender puts Ecco in the cloud while another turns Ecco into
into a surf & clip monster. Most sites offer some type of support. One company has a modern Windows XP-Vista-7-8-10
“EccoProX” installer and support ticket system on a yearly subscription basis (Ecco & EE are free, support is subscription
based) while another has a pre-packaged DIY installer on its forum for those who like to roll up their sleeves. Two Ecco
websites are Yahoo Neo posting boards. These boards are where long-time Ecco experts have helped me learn. They
require sign-in but the effort gives you plentiful Files sections with lots of freebies and information-based goodies. The
germ-seed of EverEcco came from the Yahoo boards experts and the work of EE author Slang.
SIDEBAR: You can blame or thank
the EverEcco project - sort of - on
EE versions 4.6.7.4 and 4.6.7.6.
They recently caused errors in my
Ecco files. Installing v 4.6.7.7 fixed
the problem which got me thinking.
Click here for the problem and
solution thread.
There are ~80 add-ons and utilities yet to be tested for EverEcco
inclusion/exclusion. When the EverEcco template project reaches its
permanent forum home, creating a great resource list can be ‘tasked’ and
chipped away at by everyone along with the other phases of the project.
For now, the links below represent what I know, which is not everything.
The links are to get the project started and perhaps you up-to-date with
EE v 4.6.7.7*. If a link leads to something I’ve read, and it sounds
promising and needs investigation, I will notate (To-Do --> like this). Once
the EverEcco project becomes a forum, the update procedure will likely
change. For now, please contact me to update information.
(* v4.6.7.7 is the most stable and considered final. Unless author Slang or a contact person like r634718
tells us different, experience shows it is best to run v4.6.7.7. (To-do -> Forum topic “Ecco Resource List”)
Where to get the complete and correct Ecco for EverEcco...
There is more than one road to Rome in Ecco-land. While Ecco & EE are always free, the roads are either well-
maintained, popular and track-proven public highways (ie, DIY-free) or a modern toll road with 24/7 on-call road side
service and a couple on-ramps. (ie, commerical/yrly membership). Your choice.

This page has a DIY Ecco v 4.01 installation (the version you want for EverEcco) with an updated default template. It
is a free download of the free-to-use super-PIM Ecco. According to the website, the ‘factory original’ template
contained a pointer corruption which has been corrected. This does not matter for EverEcco purposes. The EverEcco
template was started 100% from scratch to avoid the pointer corruption issue. The install also contains the
‘Ecco32.exe.manifest’ which you want for EverEcco. And until the EE-HELP.eco file is created and if you are running
anything from Vista to Win8.1, you may also want the WinHlp32.exe linked at the bottom of the page in order to run
native Ecco’s Help file. (this one works for me)
(To-Do --> does WinHlp32.exe work w/ Win10?)
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ecco_pro/files/**Ecco%20Pro%20v.%204.01**
These are the final and official free-to-use 16 and 32 bit releases from NetManage, the then corporate parent of
orphan Ecco. Sign-in as member is required (membership is free). You want the 32 bit version for EverEcco but the
install doesn’t include ‘Ecco32.exe.manifest’ which you also want. The manifest file can be downloaded separately at
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ecco_pro/files. Look for Ecco32manifest.zip. And until the EE-HELP.eco file is
created and if you are running anything from Vista to Win8.1, you may also want the Windows Help File Reader found
at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/eccopro/files. Look for ‘Windows_Help_File_Reader_Vista_6_0-KB917607-
x86.zip’. (To-Do --> I haven’t tried this file but despite different name, by description sounds like same pgm or function as
WinHlp32.exe. Need test/feedback) Note: The default template with potential pointer snag found in this ‘Install’ is not of
concern if you are running the EverEcco template. (To-Do --> embellish P)

From the website: “CompuSol-Creative Services will keep EccoPro alive. We just updated our latest Standard
EccoPro 32-bit and 64-bit installers for XP, Vista, Windows 7/8/8.1 & 10 and developed a new “one-click” EccoProX
Installer which includes Slang’s famous Extensions (EE) and many other fixes.”
From EverEcco: This is an all-inclusive one-click installer option for Ecco+EE from a company that has supported
Ecco almost since its’ inception. Along with the installer you get a ticket-based support system. The Yrl’y subscription
also includes an updated GTD (Getting Things Done) template, an updated legal template, training videos and tutorials
for native Ecco, and location and weather maps tied to your PhoneBook addresses. The website also has the most
complete corporate history version of Ecco’s development.
(To-Do --> EverEcco re-routes PhoneBook entries. Added Installer launch features need testing & guessing - launch strings
modified?? Note: Eccopro.com is supporting EE 4.6.7.6 because it is now cleared with the most anti-virus
programs that interfere with Ecco+EE. Clearance with all anti-virus vendors is being sought on Version
4.6.7.7. -->>BitDefender is cleared for 4.6.7.7 as of Dec. 25, 2015<<--

From the website: Experience EccoProX for XP, Vista, Windows 7/8 and Windows 10. Compared to the Standard
Installer Version 4.0.1.363 you will find a vast improved Information Manager which brings together your contacts,
calendar, appointments, tasks and projects in one integrated application.” “To download the regular EccoPro or the
tested and stable EccoProX Installation which includes Slang's free Ecco Extension Version 4.6.7.7 sign up for your
EccoPro Support Membership here.”
From EverEcco: This is an all-inclusive one-click installer option for Ecco from a company that has supported Ecco
almost since its’ inception. It is mostly the same content as found at EccoPro.com but a different on-ramp.
Same Note as above: Compusol.org and CreativeServices.us are supporting EE 4.6.7.6 because it is now
cleared with the most anti-virus programs that interfere with Ecco+EE. Clearance with all anti-virus
vendors is being sought on Version 4.6.7.7. -->>BitDefender is cleared for 4.6.7.7 as of Dec. 25, 2015<<--

ATTN Ecco Experts - Question/Statement: Unless convinced otherwise, EverEcco will have all install
expectations set to c:\Office\Ecco or c:\Ecco with subdirectory \data employed for EverEcco.ect and EE-
Help.eco. This gets around the “nanny” stuff 100% in WinXP and Win7. Does anyone else do this? Are
your experiences as good as mine? Does this/will this work on Win8 & 10? Why doesn’t everyone do it
this way? Wait, let me get my wet suit on before being pelted with eggs and tomatoes:)

Ans #1: The manual installations and installations outside the Windows program folder don't offer an uninstallation through the

Get the correct version of EE (Ecco Extender by Slang) for EverEcco
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ecco_pro/files/EccoPro%20Extension/
This is the latest update to EE .... v4.6.7.7
http://eccopro.com/ecco-extension/
Has both v4.6.7.6 and v4.6.7.7 and finds both versions stable. Reports v4.6.7.7 still false-triggering some anti-virus
software and is working with those companies to fix problem.
