EverEcco: Screen Shots & Tour - pg6 / WRAP UP
This is a screen shot of all main Ecco windows displaying at once. Have your browser window set “full screen”, then click pic to enlarge.  FEATURES: • Data entry guided using the <<IN>> tab. • Inputting flow designed to promote balanced use of memory registers. • (almost) All Ecco+EE’s tools are available in Icon form. • Color groupings are used to identify function. • The Folder tree is logical and easily used in daily operation. • As per established Ecco standards, EverEcco is very user tweakable.
Questions Does this make sense? Do you like what you are seeing? Do you think others would/could benefit from this type of software? Is the EverEcco template project worth continuing? Would you/do you want to get involved? Next Steps? My legally blind wife can whip around an enlarged desktop at dizzying speeds using ZoomText (desktop screen magnifier) and a mouse.  She only touches the keyboard to type the letters A-Z and has to squint through a magnifying glass to find non A-Z keys.  As with many computers users (I am learning), she relies on icons and menus, not hotkeys.  Icons color coded and grouped according to function are helpful.  But she can still blow up Ecco.  We all can.  That is Ecco’s Achilles heal.   And when she gets stuck, I cannot say “lookup the answer”.   So now that the Icons are somewhat in place, the mid- term goals seem like .... • The Memory Manifesto needs completion.  The more it is filled-in with knowledge, the better EverEcco can be built. • An EE-Help section needs to be built.    • The EverEcco template can and should have “click disaster” safeguards But before any of that can happen, the short-term is ... the EverEcco Forum EverEcco needs a Forum so people can methodically and coordinatedly chip away at the To-Do lists.  Shared servers are not terribly secure but are cheap and ‘up time’ is generally good.  ~ $60/yr. is all it would cost to host an EverEcco website and forum ala a Linux Open Source community.   Seems most EccoPro users are smart and some are on Linux.  Let’s talk.  I am looking for approval/encouragement before I plunder forward.  Contact me via email. Conclusion: The EverEcco template version ‘a1’ (seen here) needs more work before it is ready for beta release and public testing.  In other words, it is in ‘alpha’.  If you are an Ecco+EE  expert can handle ‘alpha’, please contact me for a copy.  If you are more of an average Ecco+EE user, when we hit ‘beta’, that is the time to give EverEcco a test ride. However - If you like the “look and feel” of EverEcco version ‘a1’,  the Icons are now ready now with install/uninstall instructions.  But Icons are half of what you see.  The other half is the colors used in the various windows.  A complete “look and feel” guide will be developed, including RGB values for employed colors.  (To-Do --> add Topic “EverEcco Look-Feel” to Forum).  Note:  The colors chosen for EverEcoo may be alright, but if you are a visual artist and can make things better, give it a shot! To the EverEcco Icon page ....
